I’m Hamish Nuttall. You may know one of my earlier startups, Naked Bus, the low cost, intercity bus service. I grew that to a $15M business in 8 years, with 40% market share in New Zealand. But the thing is, it wasn’t a bus service - we didn’t own any buses or employ any drivers. It was a marketing system. It was a system that attracted new customers - up to 5,000 a day, and kept them coming back.

And what I have realised is that every business needs a marketing system. But they don’t want to build that system. They need a system that ticks along in the background, delivering them customers, and saving them time. While they get on with running their business. 

I had thought I was good at building a bus business. It turns out, what I was good at, was building a marketing system.
